Neighbourhood watch, traffic management, and lighting on Kemnal Road.
Neighbourhood Watch & Safer Neighbourhood Scheme
Our Neighbourhood Watch is coordinated by Lin Limbrey, who liaises with the Chislehurst Safer Neighbourhood Scheme — a partnership between the Metropolitan Police and local residents to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.
If you have concerns about local crime or wish to join the watch scheme, please contact Lin directly at lin.limbrey@virginmedia.com.
For non-emergency police matters, call 101 or visit the Met Police Chislehurst page. In an emergency, always call 999.
Traffic — Speeding & Parking
Kemnal Road has a 20 mph speed limit and existing speed humps to slow traffic. Despite these measures, speeding remains a concern, particularly by non-resident through-traffic using the road as a shortcut between Chislehurst village and the A20.
The committee maintains an ongoing dialogue with Bromley Council about additional traffic calming measures and improved signage. If you witness persistent speeding, please report it via the Metropolitan Police reporting tool.
Complaints have also been raised about commercial vehicle parking on the road. As Kemnal Road is private and unadopted, council parking enforcement does not apply. The committee continues to address these issues through direct engagement with the businesses concerned.
Lighting
Kemnal Road's woodland character means that tree canopies can significantly reduce the effectiveness of street lighting, particularly during the darker months. Residents are asked to trim back any trees or hedges that encroach on street lights near their properties.
Bromley Council has upgraded street lighting on several other Chislehurst roads in recent years, but Kemnal Road has not yet been included in the programme. The committee continues to press for improvements.
To report a faulty street light, use Bromley Council's online reporter or call 0300 303 8658.
